Travel the world without leaving the Canal (the safest journey)

We are living complicated times, with mobility limitations. In Shangay we are committed to what #CulturaSegura means, and culture always involves a trip. In the Community of Madrid there are a thousand possibilities to live culture safely. One of them is this perfect plan at the Teatros del Canal: ‘Journey through the music of the world’ (without having to jump on a plane).

Do you have a free morning and can’t think of anything to do? If you are a music lover, we recommend the perfect plan: enjoy Viaje por la música del mundo, which Mendialduamusic opens at the end of the month. A series of eight concerts at the Teatros del Canal.

This initiative aims to spread the music of soloists and chamber ensembles, and brings together composers from America, Europe and Asia.

The first concert will take place on January 31, by bandoneonist Claudio Constantini and pianist Louiza Hamadi.

These concerts will all take place in the morning; a tradition that has always been very well received at the Teatros del Canal.

Mendialduamusic, sponsored by AIE (Sociedad de Artistas Intérpretes o Ejecutantes de España), in collaboration with the Teatros del Canal, presents the program Viaje por la música del mundo, an approach to chamber music that comes at a time when this musical genre, based on composition and performances by small ensembles, makes more sense than ever.

These eight concerts seek to promote a generational change in the audience of this type of music and, at the same time, promote the participation of national and international programmers in a platform where artists can showcase their projects under a common theme.

The first installment of this program takes places Sunday, January 31, in the Sala Roja of the Teatros del Canal, which will host all concerts. The Constantini Hamadi Duo, formed by the peruvian bandoneonist Claudio Constantini and the algerian pianist -raised in Madrid- Louiza Hamadi, will perform their program 20th Century Tango, a multicultural journey around both sides of the Atlantic, in which the common thread is the genre that was born in the La Plata river and ended up being universal. They will perform, graciously, tangos by Héctor Stamponi, Carlos Gardel or the brilliant Astor Piazzolla, and also pieces by some of the great classical composers of the 20th century, such as Ravel, Stravinsky or Albéniz. Soak up a wide variety of tangos with this talented duo.
